Our commitment

Teacher and Me is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 (opens in new tab) Level AA. We continually improve the user experience for everyone and apply the relevant accessibility standards.

Measures we take

  • Colour contrast — all text meets WCAG AA contrast ratios (≥ 4.5:1 for body text, ≥ 3:1 for large text).
  • Keyboard navigation — all interactive elements are reachable and operable via keyboard. Focus rings are visible on all focusable elements.
  • Screen reader support — semantic HTML elements, ARIA landmarks, roles, and labels are used throughout the app to support assistive technologies.
  • Skip link — a “Skip to main content” link is the first focusable element on every page, allowing keyboard users to bypass navigation.
  • Reduced motion — all animations and transitions are suppressed when the user has enabled the prefers-reduced-motion setting in their operating system.
  • Radix UI primitives — interactive components such as dialogs, dropdowns, and checkboxes use Radix UI, which provides built-in accessibility behaviour and ARIA management.
  • Accessible forms — all form inputs are associated with labels. Error messages are announced to screen readers via ARIA live regions.

Known limitations

The pronunciation recording exercise requires access to a microphone. Users who cannot use a microphone may skip this exercise type; tutors are encouraged to offer an alternative exercise for students who report difficulty. We are evaluating a text-based fallback for a future release.
